Hundreds of people in scary, quirky and cute costumes haunted Granger Street in Granville for the village's annual trick-or-treat celebration.

In our ongoing series depicting the lives of the people of Licking County, we checked in with the lives under the costumes.

Granville residents

I grew up out off Welsh Hills Road and Hickory Hills. People had haunted houses. Everybody had an open house, everybody decorated. It was just really, really cool.

We donate candy to Granger Street. We just drop it off there, because they give something like 1,500 pieces of candy [during trick-or-treat].

Ashlyn Judge dressed as a Furby with her daughter, her son dressed as a fly trap and her husband, Graham, dressed as a fly. 

“It was his idea,” Judge said. “He said: ‘I’m going to be a fly trap, and you’re gonna be a fly, Dad.’ And that’s how it worked out, and here we are.”

Previous costumes for the Lenfest family include Ryan Reynolds characters, Disney characters and the cast of Stranger Things. This year, they went as nine Luigis.

It was a series of Halloween “firsts” for the Riegle family: It was Jessica’s first trick-or-treat in Granville since moving here, and it was Veronica’s first-ever trick-or-treat.
